Do you give up easy? I used to.
I was one of those people that I would describe as a ‘starter.’ I was great at the beginning of things and always had fabulous ideas, but rarely followed through to the end.
I was always looking for the better idea, the “One” that would magically transform my life into the one I desired. Until I was exhausted and realised that I had to stick things out, regardless of the outcome. Because every time I failed to finish a project, not only was success at stake, but so was my self-esteem.
You see self-esteem is built through following through and finishing. Its built not just in those early mornings and late nights, but in not giving up, when their is little or no movement. And not giving in when the next idea or shiny object comes along.
And it’s reflected in persistence.
So why was I so challenged in this area?
I guess its because I am naturally innovative, and a creative. These are my strengths and I knew them, but I had also become accustomed to ignoring my weaknesses. And this was to my detriment.
I had also through some unresolved trauma, that was still hanging around. Become detached from my true identity. From my powerful source energy and with it, my soul’s belief about my worthiness.
So, it was time to go back and re-attach. Time to re-affirm my divinity and worthiness of all I desired, by becoming persistent in my pursuit of my dreams and desires.
To shake off the old feelings that came from failures past. And step into, and embody the identity of who I really was.
When I looked back, I could easily see how when I had persisted in something, I had most times succeeded. But I also saw something else within persistence. And that was a strong inner belief of my truth. My higher self and my divinity.
You see when you persist in anything you are declaring through your thoughts, actions, words and energy that you already are what you are working towards, that you really don’t need to see it to believe it. It is already represented in your conviction.
And its in this conviction that success follows.
When you say ‘I am……….(Fill in the blank)and I will……….(fill in the blank)no matter what.” “And not even if things don’t go right straight away.” “Or I have to take a different route.” You have automatically succeeded and the results will show themselves in time, guaranteed.
Not only because you are adopting the identity, but also the energy. When we are working towards something persistently we instantly raise our vibration, to the frequency of that identity.
And so it is.
And so it must follow, because that is the law of manifestation.
When we persist, our self-esteem grows. Because saying “No” to giving in, is saying “Yes” to our worthiness.
So ask yourself today, where are you giving in?
What shiny new things are you allowing yourself to be distracted by, that are seemingly calling you to an easier route to success?
What are you not persisting in, that regardless of outcome would be a reflection and conviction of your true self, your worthiness and powerful identity?
Write down the answers to these questions and then in your newfound awareness, commit to persisting in the pursuit of your goals and dreams once again.
And you will find that not only will your self-esteem rise up and so contribute to raising your vibrational frequency, that what you once envisioned will become your reality.
Persistence is an action that goes on silently in the background, is rarely acknowledged, but essential in the unfolding of your dreams- Nicola Farnhill.

Nicola, this is beautifully honest and inspiring. I love how you’ve uncovered that persistence isn’t just about willpower, it’s deeply tied to self-worth and staying connected to your true self.
This spoke so deeply to me especially the part about persisting even when the results aren’t immediate or the path has to change. That line “not even if things don’t go right straight away” is such a necessary reminder in a world that rushes everything.
I’ve also seen how much of my progress wasn’t tied to talent alone, but to sticking with something long enough to grow into it. It’s easy to chase “the next idea” hoping it’ll be the breakthrough, but I’m learning that mastery often comes through commitment, not constant reinvention.
Thank you for putting this into words. There’s so much truth in how persistence reflects our inner conviction that what we’re becoming already lives inside us.
